All of our refurbished computers are used equipment which comes from a wide variety of sources and are sold as-is with a thirty day service warranty and no hardware or parts warranty. In most cases, you can get a computer capable of internet browsing, email, and word processing (word processing software not included) for less than half of what a new computer would cost.

The vast majority of the refurbished PC's we have had available recently are Windows-XP based computers (either professional or home edition) which are Pentium III processors or newer, or the AMD equivalent. Refurbished computers are not necessarily always pretty on the outside, and sometimes they have strange little quirks, but we do a bit more than just resell someone else's computer to you. In fact, we spend a lot of time working with each computer we sell doing a thorough check of the entire system to make sure it is healthy on the inside, including addressing the following items and noting any problems we find along the way in order to make sure you know exactly what you are buying:
- A Windows XP based computer needs to have at least 256MB of RAM (memory)
- A Windows XP based computer needs to have at least a 10GB hard drive
- Hard drive passes advanced hardware diagnostics
- System RAM (memory) passes advanced memory diagnostics
- Floppy drive, if present, reads disks okay
- Has at least one working CD or DVD drive, and each CD or DVD drive present reads discs okay
- If it has a CD burner, freeware CD burning software is loaded and CD burning works okay
- If it has a DVD reader, freeware DVD movie playing software is loaded and DVD playing works okay
- Hard drive has been completely reformatted and a new operating system installation has been loaded
- On a Windows XP based computer, it has a genuine COA sticker and passes the Genuine Windows test
- Has been dusted out on the inside and has no signs of physical damage to internal components or blown capacitors
- Has all applicable and current windows security updates as well as antivirus and antiapyware software loaded and updated, current as of the date of completion of refurbishing
- All device drivers are loaded properly and the windows device manager shows no issues or problems, or any issues are noted
- USB ports on the back of the computer work okay
- If a modem is present, driver is loaded and modem diagnostics run okay
- Correct display driver is loaded and running
- If a sound card or other sound hardware is present, the drivers are loaded, and sound is working okay
- If it is a Windows XP based computer, it has a working network card for internet connectivity
- Gets online okay and internet browsing works in internet explorer
- Non-working components, if any, are well documented and noted properly
- Specification and pricing sheet shows hard drive size, amount of memory, version of windows, display type, CD/DVD drive(s) and types, sound card type(s), network or modem card(s) and type(s).
For all refurbished computers we sell, if you want a warranty, then you are required to sign off on the following terms of sale:
Refurbished / Used Computer Equipment Terms of Sale
I understand I am purchasing refurbished and/or used computer equipment made from all used components, including some with motors and moving parts which always eventually cease to function, the source of which is unknown to both myself and aur Computer Service. As such, there are no warranties, either explicit or implied, which guarantee that this computer will continue to function for any specific amount of time. However, in the event that the computer should cease to function within thirty (30) days of the date of sale due to mechanical equipment failure, specifically excluding software malfunction, I understand that aur Computer Service will cover the cost of labor to repair the equipment if repair is possible at a cost lower than the original cost of the equipment, however, I would have to pay for any necessary parts. Outside of mechanical equipment failure, I assume all liability for the equipment and the software and data which are on it. I understand this equipment has newly installed software and contains no viruses, spyware, and/or malware (if applicable) at the time of sale.
I understand that I must pay for this refurbished computer with cash only, and that it is non-returnable and non-exchangeable; in other words, the sale is final. I am entitled only to a demonstration that the computer is working at the time of purchase, and I have either received this demonstration or waived my right to it.
Furthermore, I understand that purchasing this equipment does not include any services, however, I may benefit from up to fifteen (15) minutes per business day of free phone support provided by aur Computer Service for as long as aur Computer Service continues to provide free phone support to its’ customers. In addition, aur Computer Service has the resources to provide me with services related to this equipment at an additional cost, such as getting on the internet or hooking up a printer, for example.
I am at least eighteen (18) years old, I have read the above, and I agree to the terms of sale for the equipment.
Finally, refurbished PC's typically range in price from $ 100.00 to $ 250.00 depending on how it is configured and come with a power cord if you need it. Laptops when they are available range from $ 200 to $ 400. We typically have used CRT (tune screen) monitors available for $ 10.00 extra with the purchase of a refurbished computer, and we also have used keyboards and mice available for $ 5.00 per set with the purchase of a refurbished computer.

Notes on buying used equipment - many of our customers ask is if we buy used equipment, and the short answer is that no, we do not buy used equipment form indivduals. However, you may be able to receive a trade-in credit. Bring your old computer in to one of our Milwaukee area shops, let us recycle it for FREE, and receive $25 OFF a refurbished computer when purchased at the same time. Must bring in a main box (CPU) or laptop (with power cord) which is a whole, working computer, including the hard drive, pentium 3 or newer, with valid Windows XP license. Whether computer is valuable enough for trade-in or not is at sole discretion of the technician on staff. Limit one discount per computer recycled. Not valid with other discounts, coupons, or offers.
